I made the HUGE mistake of cutting off Uni's puppy hair. If you want her to have a long coat eventually why cut it? Silky hair grows very slowly compared to cottony, also if you cut it off it will be a huge shock TRUST ME LOL!
I really think the groomer told you that bc she doesn't want to deal with it. If it were her, meaning since she has to do the work, she wants to do what's easiest. I hate when groomers want to shave or cut down yorkies. I would find a groomer who specializes in long coated dogs.
