They have run in front of my car at dusk and just the other day I saw one running through an open field about 10 houses from me. But most frightening I once saw a pack of three running through a populated neighborhood and they jumped a 4 ft fence and into a yard
During the day I will let my three out without much reservation. Coyotes are more active at dusk and into the night so as soon as the sun starts to set they are not allowed without me standing watch at the door. I have my flashlight and I watch their every move. They are not allowed to play just potty and back inside. |
I grew up in New Lenox and we used to go to Orland Mall all the time, so I know exactly where you're at. It's crazy that we have to worry about all this wildlife. I really wonder if we have just encroached on their territory so much that they now must enter into ours more and more to survive... We have a 6 ft privacy fence and my babies are never out unattended (hawks and owls), but it still freaks me out that a hungry coyote could be out prowling through the neighborhood.
