Nature's Miracle is really good, but it takes awhile to work.

In a pinch, plain old white vinegar does a really good job at deodorizing carpets. For spots, heat some up and pour it on the spot making sure to soak the pad. Let it sit for a bit and then blot it up. The odor will dissipate while it dries. For larger areas, you can use it in your carpet shampooer mixed in with the water.
