I used Windows Movie Maker. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. At least to trim the video is. Music is easy to add to, but I need to figure out how to buy and put on my puter some music that I can "legally" use to accompany the video.

It's hard for me to remember WMM as it's been two years since I've used it since I got a Mac.
If there is a song that I don't own, I usually go to youtube, find the song in a "video" (people post songs with just scrolling pics, etc on it) and then go to google and type "youtube to mp3" and there is lots of sites where you can download the song from youtube and save it on your computer.
Or you could go to iTunes, buy the song, and do it that way. Keep in mind that YouTube blocks quite a few copyrighted songs, so look for less popular ones, or ones that are under a creative commons license.
