I'm not so much concerned with the cost of vet care, as I am about getting an unhealthy puppy with problems. All these threads with pups and their health issues is downright scary. Well, the thing is, Jackson's always been a pretty healthy guy too. His main things were: getting dx'ed with Lymes disease. He came up limping, took him to the vet, they did x-rays (which is what cost so much), only to find out it was Lymes. Second was a huge GI upset caused by getting too much fatty ppl food, which caused overnight stay on IV's, a few trips back and forth with subq fluids, etc. Third being his recent dental surgery.
So, yeah, even a dog is mainly healthy, things can creep on and add up like you would never expect. And I know as they age, they only get more expensive, usually. My dad paid, like, $4000 in our Golden Retrievers last two years of life to treat her cancer, etc. I think because I grew up with my dad always willing to dish out whatever it would take to keep his dogs around, I maybe learned the same way. He can't stand to see a dog in any type of pain, so he just wants to get them the help they need, even if he can't *really* afford it. He finds a way.
