I have 2 male and 2 female dogs in my house. I haven't found any problems with the gender mix. I do believe it depends more upon the individual personalities of the dogs. If your females are outgoing, a more laid back pup might be easier to add. If they are really laid back, then I would suggest a laid back pup (as laid back as pups can be!) to avoid upsetting the balance.
