I've used it for four years. Wouldn't have a Yorkie without using it. No alcohol. It is like a wax that binds to the teeth and creates a plaque barrier. It does work. I've heard a couple problems with it on YT - one that the dog hated it and one that it didn't do much good. Haven't experienced either.
You apply it once a week, but the original app is done under anesthesia when the teeth can be dried off completely. So it's too late. But then, I started Ry on it without him being under (vet agreed that at the very worst it just won't do any good this way - not going to hurt).
Ellie had very severe periodontal disease. A very nasty mouth... She has some minimal tartar accumulation, but hasn't had a cleaning in about 4 years. For a dog with such severe mouth issues (and a Yorkie at that), it is pretty much a miracle. This and brushing is pretty much all we do.
The veterinary dentists tend to recommend it. Jackson's dentist would really be the very best source for figuring out what products to use on his teeth and what products not to use on his teeth (along with chews). It's their life. They know best.
