Do they look like there is any tarter or plaque build-up? I can't imagine most 9 month olds would have bad teeth, but I guess you never know.
Genetics seem to play a large role, plus the amount of work you do at home. Brushing should really be done every day. I'm terrible at it. But my 3 year old just had his first professional dental today and I am going to be good from here on out. It's expensive, first of all, so I'm going to keep my in-home care up to par from now on to avoid too many more of these in the future (although his was extra expensive because he had other dental work that needed to be done).
Some dogs need a dental every year. Some every six months. Some don't need them for years in between. It all just depends. I think having a vet check them every 6 months-one year is recommended and get their professional opinion. |
