Awww, don't feel bad
Kaos is one special baby, and he knows that you love him. I felt bad for a long time because I was gravely ill for a few months and neglected my girls. My hubby and daughter were doing all the things that I usually did and I felt like a horrible Mommy
But they do understand. During that time, they would not leave my side, only to eat and potty. Dogs are just so sensitive to our moods/emotions/physical illnesses, and they do know how much we love them.
