I dropped him off. They gave me a few options (including doggy braces, LOL) and tooth removal (cheapest) but I opted for the in-between... he will have his tooth shortened and sealed. It has to be sealed after shaving it done to prevent infection and bacteria from ever getting in there. It's kind of like a human filling she told me.
She was concerned about the indent in his upper palate that the tooth was making and said it was good I brought him in now vs. waiting longer. Said it could have eventually went to the bone, and it also could have affected his nasal cavity as well, since it's right up near there.
Gave me a low estimate of $1260 and a high of $1650. *sigh* Oh well, I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. But it's worth it to get him out of pain. And like the vet said, it's a one-time thing. It's not like he (hopefully) will ever have to have full dental surgery again, besides maybe a teeth cleaning in the future.
So God forbid, I hope all of these major expenses that happened this year with him won't happen for a long time again, lol. I can pray and hope, right?!
I felt awful leaving him, he looked all excited when I came back in the room and thought I was coming to get him, but I was coming to say goodbye.

He had to be, like, dragged across the floor to get away from me.
But I really loved the staff there, they explained everything in detail to me, they had an anesthesiologist, vet tech, and veterinarian dentist who will be in the room with Jackson during surgery. When he wakes up from the anesthesia, they will be holding him, so he doesn't completely flip out. Oh and they will cut his nails while he's under too (he's such a pain in the butt doing it awake, LOL).
Sooo... basically I'll be a nervous wreck until I can pick him up again. Should be around 5:30 or so. Until then, I've got lots of dogs to walk today (my dogsitting clients) and babysitting from 2-4:30. So I'll be kept busy!
