Actually I have done this for about 5 meals now. I used the mallet with the "sharp" side but I still had a few random larger pieces. My Mr. suggested that I use the flat side - and it has worked great. Some pieces are larger than others, but I can see how large they are and he is eating normal. Brutus is also teething, which led to a vet visit and for me to try this. I almost feel like I am preparing meals for him, just like skin kids. lol I am smashing his food up at night for his breakfast so I don't wake the entire house up at 6:30, then I make sure his food is smashed for lunch (I don't trust my son to get it small enough) as well.
