I agree with Ladyjane. But most of all I really think you need to listen to your vet.
Not the same because we are humans not dogs, but I suffered from allergy induced hives for about a year and took Prednzone to help it. Boy was I thankful for the relief it provided. I urge you to follow your vets advice. Your poor pup needs some relief and this might provide it.
