I too have a cast iron skillet I use for cornbread.
Funny thing about it is that is so old but looks almost like new. The greatness of cast iron.
My granny gave it to me when I got married! Lol. But I think she told me it was to hit my DH on the head if he got out of line. Now it is only used for cornbread.
