Standard doesn't address facial features too much and the breeder is left to decide many things. Not too long ago it said the muzzle should be neither too long or too short, now it just says not too long, but what does that mean?
Here's the official standard as written by YTCA.
Quote:
|
Small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominent or round, the muzzle not too long, with the bite neither undershot nor overshot and teeth sound. Either scissors bite or level bite is acceptable. The nose is black. Eyes are medium in size and not too prominent; dark in color and sparkling with a sharp, intelligent expression. Eye rims are dark. Ears are small, V-shaped, carried erect and set not too far apart.

There are no official definitions for the terms babydoll face and teddy bear face and YTCA members are forbidden to use those terms as they are just marketing ploys. I think smaller muzzles are adorable, and make the dog look so puppy-like, but I hope they don’t overdo it and cause breathing problems that some breeds are plagued with.
