I worked in a clinic and we did have a box like that. It was small and used mainly for as u said, small sick animals. Hamsters, snakes, rabbits...ect. While I was there it was never used however I have no doubt if it had to be it would be done as humanely as possible. What I saw was a large box (dumster sized) where ppl put around 6 big dogs in and gassed. Then placed more ontop of the deceased and gassed them as well. This in no way is acceptable. As for the story of the beagle though, it is incredible he survived that. It was an "educational" video to let ppl know this is happening. Could it have possibly been over exaggerating to make a point? I can't believe many do this.
