Dog saves baby! My mom told me about this story 'cause she saw it on the news. I just thought it was amazing! Definitely worth sharing. Dog saves Taiwanese newborn

January 06, 2006 A FEMALE husky dog has saved the life of a Taiwanese newborn by snatching him from the toilet after his mother gave birth alone at home and collapsed, a social worker said today.
The 24-year-old single mother, identified only as Huang, did not feel well on Sunday and went to the bathroom, as her dog named Baby followed, without realising she was in labor as the baby was not due for another five days, the social worker told TVBS.
The woman gave birth to a baby boy into the toilet and managed to cut the umbilical cord with a small pair of scissors before collapsing on the floor, too weak to call for help from her roommate, she said.
But her faithful dog snatched up the infant's leg with her mouth and rescued him from drowning, the social worker said, holding the baby in her arms as the dog paced around at their temporary shelter in a charity home in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan.
"The dog approached her owner, who was lying on the ground in a pool of blood, and saw the infant... she snatched up the baby's leg with her mouth and rescued him from drowning," she said.
When the boy finally breathed and cried out after the dog licked him on the face, Huang managed to call for help, said the social worker, who withheld her name. The mother declined to speak to the press.
Doctors said both the mother and infant were healthy in stable condition.
However, due to financial difficulties, the mother was giving both her baby boy and the life-saving 10-month-old dog away for adoption, the social worker told TVBS.

Saturday, Jan 07, 2006,Page 2 Hundreds were vying to adopt a Husky yesterday after the dog saved the life of a newborn baby by pulling it out of a toilet bowl.
"More than 200 people have phoned us asking to adopt the Husky, but we hope to find someone who is willing to adopt both the dog and the baby," Kuo Liang-ling (???), director of the Huichi Charity Foundation, told reporters.
The Husky became a celebrity after the Chinese-language newspaper United Daily News, reported yesterday that it had saved the newborn boy of a woman surnamed Huang.
Huang, 25, an unemployed single mother, delivered the boy into the toilet bowl on Sunday at a dormitory run by the Huichi Foundation in Kaohsiung City.
She collapsed onto the floor and fainted after giving birth, but the nine-month-old Husky pulled the infant out of the toilet and licked its face clean, enabling the baby to breathe and cry.
After Huang regained consciousness, she called for help and a roommate rushed her and the baby to hospital. Both the mother and baby are fine.
"Huang has been out of work and depressed for a long time and wanted to abandon the baby. But the Husky's act inspired her. She now wants to find work and start a new life," Kuo said by phone.
However, Huang is too poor to raise the kid and keep the dog, which she bought several months ago, so she is putting up the baby and the Husky for adoption.
"But sadly speaking, there are more people interested in adopting the dog than the baby," Kuo added. |
