I thought it wasn't more salty, but more tangy. I thought Best Foods was more salty. Maybe Best Foods and Hellmans does taste different even though supposedly it's the same expect the name?

Here in Georgia we use Hellmanns. When we lived in Denver and Albuquerque we used Best Foods. Hubby is a Mayo Snob - and for many of our 30 years of marriage would only eat those brands. Believe me, he could detect a difference between the two "brands". It is very possible that the same product made with the same ingredients in different parts of the country will have a slightly difference taste. Some ingredients such as eggs, milk, and water have a different taste in different areas of the country.
