I am not a groomer but I have been grooming between groomings for a while. I use a small pair of round tipped scissors and trim the hair off the top of her nose and then at an angle at the inner corner of her eyes.

There was some videos by someone who grooms her own dog with clippers that are quite informative. They used to be a sticky, don't know where they are now. I'll have to look. They were in this section though. She said to hold the chin hair with one hand when trying to do the face. It gives you complete control over the head movement so they won't throw their head around while you are trying to trim around the eyes and nose. I have found it works very well. Gracie used to give me fits when I was trying to do her face until I learned to get a good hold of the chin fur first.
