I got my two babies this year. I work long hours - anywhere from 10-12 daily. I spend lots of quality time with my babies, but I do realize they are home alone for long hours. We get up everyday at 4am and play, go for a walk, and spend time together until I go to work at 7am. I have a dog sitter that comes in mid-day for an hour every day. Their safe place is the master bathroom - they have beds, toys, food, water, and potty pads. They are now just over 7 months old and seem to be doing great. They seem to be well adjusted and well socialized. They do not bark a lot (we worked on that) and they love to meet new fur friends.

I think having two dogs is great if you can afford them. Mine are great company for each other and play together nicely. They have such different personalities - Max is laid back and Abby is wired (and OCD when it comes to her mini-tennis ball). My dog sitter charges the same for the first three dogs, so that does not run me any more. The vet bills have been the biggest expense thus far.

I had to cut back on some of my daily "extra's" to pay for the dog sitter (I have never had a dog sitter before and wow does that add up!). I do not eat out much anymore, I make my coffee at home instead of hitting starbucks everyday, and I skip the happy hours after work. I have lost about 10 pounds since I got the pups - which is amazing since I do not make it to the gym as often anymore.

One of my co-workers recently got a puggle pup as a buddy for her 3 year old Lab/Beagle. The new pup has been a great addition to her family. When the puppy gets to be a little too much, she puts up the baby gate and the lab goes to the bedroom to her crate (which she loves) for some quiet time. She has commented that her lab seems happier with a buddy - more energetic and playful.

Sorry for the morning ramble. Bottom line for me, I am very happy that I got two. No, it has not all been peaches and cream perfect. I have come home to find they have chewed the baseboards in the bathroom or shredded their potty pads, and they try to eat everything on walks. They make me smile when I think of them and they have me laughing several times a day. The really funny laughs end up in a face licking session - I don't think they understand belly laughter.

I think this little guy would be so lucky to become a part of your family. I am sure your children will love him and play with him to his heart delight.
