I'm so torn on the resolution to this. I believe every dog should be taught to be food friendly and never attack anything while it is eating. When I was a kid we had a dog, for 14 years, that was so aggressive around his food. He bit me a bunch of times because of it.

That was wrong of my parents to let him get away with that from puppy and up. After all those bites from him as a kid I made sure that none of my dogs really care if their food is touched, eaten out of their mouth or anything. I go so far as to train them with chicken, beef and whatever they would love.

I don't know what could be done with this pet. It is the fault of the owner all around but it is very hard to fix that behavior in a dog...but it can be done. Should it though? I dunno...

I feel really bad for the baby though....it's sad that it had to have this type of experience.
