It probably depends on where you live, how cold it gets, what temp. you have your thermostat set at and how well insulated your home is. My Michigan, 1950's built, plaster walls, no insulation in the walls house gets pretty cold & drafty, so sweaters are need for all living things here.

ZoE has specific sweaters that she wears inside while I'm gone & the thermostat on the heating is turned way down. These sweaters are a tighter fit than the others that she wears over her harness when we go out, and they do not have parts that come down on the legs. I'd noticed that she would sometimes get her paws/nails caught up in the other sweaters and I don't want to risk her falling or landing awkardly because of that and injurying herself. So, I specifically knitted tighter sweaters with just small leg holes, that don't cause these problems.
