There's no way either of my dogs would be able to handle a 3 mile walk, especially not one everyday. My yorkie is only 14 weeks old, but I'm not sure he'd EVER be able to walk that far. He's barely able to keep up with me when we go on hour long walks on the walking trail. I usually have to carry him on the way home. My other dog is a 130lb mastiff who tires after walking for only 20 mins!
It'll be interesting to see what the other yorkie owners say
