My Zoey just had this surgery 11 days ago. The board certified surgeon and his nurse/rehab wife took her home with them and kept her until she could walk on all fours. Unusally this is about 10 days but Zoey did so well she came home in five days. We have a 5-6 month plan for rehab. Phase one is walking twice per day for 10 mins increasing 5 mins every week up to 30 mins.
I have an area fenced in with a wire cage. She stays inside the area when not with me. When I leave she goes into the cage. The area is big enough for a great dane. Otherwise she is leashed to me at all times. I'm sure you will get instructions on how to rehab her.
Zoey has done so well and I want to thank all the YT people that gave me good advise about this surgery.
I will send a pix of the caged area in another post if I can get the picture. I have a very had time with posting pix.
Good luck and I'm sure your little one will do just as well as Zoey.
