Ohhhh good thinking! I would not have thought about that.
I just had always kept it in the bag, never thought about it before, but with the bags that don't really "shut", I don't really like just keeping it open. We have a lot of critters around here, even though I do keep it up higher. Mice have been bad this year, gross! Ants, too.
