I highly recommend everyone to get pre anesthetic blood panel before any kind of surgery on your little ones. It measures the white and red blood cells, the proteins, also detects if the kidney and liver are functioning properly. Not only does it assist the vet in what is the proper dosage of anesthesia it will detect problems (if any prior to surgery) if their body can't desolve the residuals of the anesthesia properly, it is the best for your kid.
