Moscato would be a good start if you prefer a white sparkling wine. There's plently of varieties reasonably priced so you could sample a few for characteristics you prefer.
Or just go with Champagne
. Perrier Jouet is an excellent mid-price champagne to start with and shows the basic characteristics of a good champagne.
