If he does not enjoy sleeping with you in bed then this is obviously not a solution. As you say this is abnormal behaviour for him, so he may well have an infection. Tootsy woke us up several times a night recently when she was ill and she just wanted comfort. She stopped it as soon as she was well again, so it may be a good idea to see a vet just to be sure. I have found that if Tootsy does something unusual it is very seldom due to her being difficult. It has always turned out that there was a good reason, so now I always make sure she is well and that there is no problem. It really is worth a visit to the vet.
