I tried cow hoof's too when I heard about the pig ears being dangerous. Whew the smell when wet..smelled like the whole dead cow had entered the room. I did a "Search" in the forum and there is a post on boiling them first AND just buying the white ones (dark stinks more) and its very detailed. Tried it. Was totally true! No smell, no bad puppy breath..dogs are still working on them 3 weeks later! Wish to THANK the person who took time to detail HOW to prepare the hoofs..To me that is #1 on what this forum is for...sharing info. on and for these wonderful pets of ours. You are a great group. Do the "Search"...the love my dogs have with these hoofs and because they last so long makes the simple act of boiling them...a really tiny bother.
