Its a math thing.
On your scale in your bathroom, is it digital?
Does it read in pounds and ounces specifically or in decimal format?
If it reads in pounds and ounces, it is because it is converted for you.
If it reads with a decimal point, then it is in decimal format.
1.14 is a decimal. It means 1 pound and another 14% of another pound or 2.24 ounces.
One way to find out what a scale is doing (like at the vet's office or the bathroom scale) is to increase the weight on the scale. Does it progress from 1.14 to 1.15 to 1.16 then 2.0? If so . . . then reading the directions that came with the scale - it would be reading in pounds and ounces . . . but doubtful in most cases.
If the progression is 1.14 to 1.15 to 1.16 to 1.17 to 1.18 . . . to 1.20 to 1.21, etc., then it is decimal format.
I'm being serious . . . . I taught Algebra and I had a perfect 4.0 in every single college math class and quantitative business analysis class I took.
