a few weeks ago, my zowi was hospitalized after an episode of diarrhea (was diagnosed with pancreatitis) and her dr said she was constipated, that diarrhea was the bodies way of trying to "lube" out what wasn't coming out on its own. so yes, they sure can get constipated!
