I totally agree~it's probably a teething problem. If there are double teeth food can become stuck and will also cause stinky breath. Get her acquainted with a toothbrush and this will help.
As for the bathing, Yorkies have hair and no undercoat much like a human. My vet also told me to bathe mine monthly as well but I have to say it's not of a general broad recommendation and not breed specific.
