She gets slightly runny eyes that I clean everyday, and thought that might be the cause, but it's not, it's her coat/skin that seems to smell! My vet has always said not to bath them too often as it inteferes with their natural oils. I use Whal shampoo and conditioner that I love the smell of, but her smell quickly returns! No I don't use a flea dip, I use Frontline spot on monthly, and vetpac wormer every 3 months on the advice of my vet. At the moment she is loosing her teeth, she's just lost all her front ones within a few days, and now bigger ones are coming through. She has yet to lose her canines and back teeth, she's 19 weeks. Yes, we live in a very hard water area, so maybe I will boil her drinking water. I have a detangling spray, which smells lovely, but her smell soon returns.
It sounds like its from teething, when they are losing their baby teeth they they have funky breath and of course bathing won't help. Now's the time to get them use to tooth brushing, start slowly. Have your vet pull any baby teeth out when she's spayed, they don't always lose them on their own, and the double row of teeth can cause problems. Yorkies have a different type of coat then most dogs, they have hair not fur and they can be bathed once a week as long as you use a shampoo and conditioner meant for dogs. Don't use human shampoo, it will over dry their skin and can lead to real problems.
