Ha ha, we have a pond and that what I was thinking, especially after the fish have spawned you get that smell. To the OP, have your vet show you how to check the anal glands. It's very easy, but you have to do it right or you could cause your dog serious injury. Some dogs need it checked weekly and other dogs never need it, so it's best to learn how to do this.
