Joey’s breeder told me he should be free fed the first 6 or so months. They go through growing spurts and some days they are really hungry and other days they hardly eat a thing. Free feeding is also a good way to avoid hypoglycemia. This is the time you can make a fussy eater because most of us panic when it looks like they aren't eating and start giving them tastier foods to tempt them. One good thing is that even finicky eaters seem to like RC.
