If your pup is doing well on this food, there is no reason not to feed it. I'm not really into breed specific foods (although there could be a little bit of truth to it). I'm more into size difference. For instance, the calcium levels and such for large breeds are going to be different for small breeds.
I couldn't tell you why RC is so much more expensive. My suspicion is that part of it has to do with their method of QC. They also do trials and have some staff that would have to be paid well.
I would pick a quality food that your pup does well on and stick with it. If we are talking about an averaged sized Yorkie, price shouldn't make that much of a difference. My girl's food is just over $3/lb and I think it's a 6.5lb bag that lasts 30-45 days. That's like $20 a month or less!
