Riled up Puppy!!! lol So my boyfriend and I have noticed a lot that Geno gets really riled up and wants to play, especially at bedtime. Usually I just ignore him and let him go play with his toy but eventually, every now and then, he'll come up to my head and start attacking my face. Like nipping here and there, and growling. Personally, I think he's just trying to play with me but regardless, biting/nipping is unacceptable, especially to my face. So I started yipping loudly to try to get him to see that it hurts and isn't nice. Well, that just makes him do it more so then I yell STOP! Nope, he still continues to go crazy. Finally, I pick him up and give him a big hug and try to calm him down. This works but my question is, is there anyway to hold your puppy that won't hurt him? Geno is incredibly squirmy so I worry that I'm holding him too tight sometimes. The trainer showed us a way to hold him that won't allow him to move but it involves putting 2 fingers in between his collar. Well Geno doesn't wear a collar so can't really do that. Do you guys hold your puppy any special way to calm him/her down? I read somewhere that if you say calmly like no bite, he'll stop, but Geno doesn't seem to understand that either. It's like he turns into Dr. Jekyl and forgets everything he's learned!!! |
