I love fried yucca. I hate mexican papaya, but have you tried green papaya? There's a thai dish that's green papaya salad. Basically, it's not the yellow/orange mexican fruit. It's green and dense and crunchy. You cut it into thin strips and put lime, fish sauce, chilies, tomatoes, some times little green beans.

I was under the impression that green papaya is just that. Green. Not ripe. But the same Papaya. That is what gives papaya its tenderizing properties. It is a main ingredient in meat tenderizers.
You don't like celery or cantaloupe??
