It's hard to assess how he is doing because he eats inedible stuff all the time. However, it is the best he has done on a food and the gas has stopped. It can take about 3 weeks to even start to assess how a food is working for the GI tract. What I'd say is this. Your vet has had many, many patients, some with similar issues. If these two foods have worked well for them and they are suggesting it to you, then that's what you should feed. My girl eats corn starch and soy and my boy eats chicken by-products and corn. They are fed what they do well on, not what a person on the internet considers a good food based on biased research.

I wouldn't say eye boogers are a good thing, but honestly I think sometimes it's paid attention to way too much. Intestinal health is more important, imo. Also, there is always the possibility of allergies or tear duct issues.

Well part of the reason I didn't want to switch right away is because I just started the Nat. Balance a week ago so I wanted to give it a few weeks before I switch again.
I am not opposed to feeding the Iams I was just not impressed with the ingredients but if that is what will work then I will do it.

It just seemed odd to me that her eye boogers were so much better when she was eating Fromm but now on the L/D they are so much worse, thicker and build up fast.
