Also, the gas leaks, but there's no hissing or whistling sound...I saw online that those are signs of gas leak. However, you do smell gas and the pilot goes out by itself...
Isn't it Carbon Monoxide that you have to worry about with gas leaks? If that is right, do you have a Carbon Monoxide detector? If you can smell gas, then something is up. Please insist on him checking it out if possible!!
