I did call and actually got to speak with the vet and not just a tech. This is what he said, the digging into the gums. Chloe had worse gums than Smokey so she got the antibiotic and pain meds. Smokey only got pain meds as he said 99% of the time they don't give antibiotic for neuter. Even though he also had a dental, his gums were not as bad. He also said something about not abusing the use of antibiotics too much. maybe if you give them when not completely necessary they get an immunity to it?

Anyway, both are doing fine. Smokey is still doing the butt up pose from time to time. Both are eating fine. Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts.
