Usually yes they suggest before the first heat, but having her go through it once I don't think is that big of a deal. However, you vet would know best. I personally like 8 months bc of the teeth, plus I have personal experience of mine going into first heat pretty late. That is just my opinion. Just make sure you get the bloodwork done before the spay.
