I am from north OC. I am with the meetup.com group as well, but since I am in north county and most the meetups are in Irvine or south county I haven't gone in a long time. The organizer Catt is really nice and her dogs are too cute. However, I personally don't really like the Central Bark dog park where a lot of the meet ups are held. A lot of owners who don't pick up after their dogs, or let their dogs steal other dogs balls. Well that was what I experienced last time I was there. =/

Since you pup is so young still I would not take him to dog parks just yet. maybe have a play date at your home or someone else's home just to be safe.
