I saw a hawk checking out Mojo in our backyard a couple months back. It was certainly terrifying, to say the least! One of the things I remember reading at the time is that a hawk will generally only hunt the same area for a few days, then will move on. Also, the neighbors to the rear of me have a huge bird feeder that attracts tons of birds. Apparently these bird feeders also attract hawks who prey on the smaller birds. These neighbors own a Siberian Husky, so I don't think I'll have any luck getting them to remove their bird feeder, but you better believe it crossed my mind to ask!
I always go outside with my pups, anyway, but with two it's sometimes hard to be right on top of both of them. I just try to scan the trees and sky, but I can't and wouldn't want to keep the pups from zooming around their backyard. It's scary stuff to own such tiny babies! |
