I'm pretty sure it has to do with the US aesthetic and the yorkies here being bred down in size. Maybe also yorkies used to be lower class people's dogs, ratting dogs, so they aren't into them? IDK. When I talk to people about yorkies, a lot of them don't know they used to be poor peoples dogs used for killing rats. Now they get called rats.
