If the vet is thinking it's a disc issue, then did they prescribe pain meds? Resting means limiting moment at pretty much all costs. Carry to bathroom, leashed to potty, carried back to crate for weeks and weeks (a lot of dogs will resist this and will end up needing more room like a playpen - and while opinions vary, holding them (as long as they can't jump) is fine). No running, jumping, or climbing for best chances of recovery. And definitely not a good idea to let the playing go on. The pups should be separated.
