definitely keep an eye on petfinder.com, local shelters listings, or even the newspapers. i noticed that since christmas there's been more listings for puppies at shelters...people who got puppies for christmas are now finding that they're in way over their heads, or they'll realize that in the next month. the honeymoon of having a cute little puppy will be overriden by the responsibility and will start trying to get rid of their puppies for one reason or another and you'll be able to pick up some good deals.

Yes, very good point. Unfortunately, there are probably a lot of people who received puppies for Christmas who will want to sell or surrender them. Have you tried putting an ad in your area paper that says you're interested in buying one?
