They say the flea infestation is so bad this year that people who never had them are having them because of the very wet end of summer beginning of fall we have had here. I dont even want to let them out in the yard anymore because that is where they got them in the first place. I think I just want to let them go on the washable pad. I will never get rid of them if I let them outside. Boy this sucks!!!
I just want to shave them all down but I like to let them grow a bit in the winter. I might have no choice though. I think I will do it Monday cuz they had their dose of frontline on Friday so I will shave them and wash them.
Poor babies. Now my kids wont even touch them cuz of the fleas. I feel bad. I still let them sleep with me. I havent had any flea bites or itchies on me. I just hate to make them out to have the cooties!!! |
We also had a very bad flea year. I read on the Advantage label that if there are a lot of fleas that the product may not work for the full month and may be reapplied earlier but not to apply more than once every 7 days. That was the first I had noticed that instruction. I had been using Capstar with the Advantage. When the Advantage would wear off I would used Capstar. After that I spoke to my vet who said it was fine to reapply sooner and I did reapply at 3 weeks. I used to have a dog that had a terrible allergy to fleas. It was so bad that if just one flea got on him it would drive him nuts. They are allergic to the fleas and the flea excretions as well as the bites. The only thing that helped him was the steroid shot when he first had a flea attack. It lasts for a couple of weeks and lets all the inflammation and itching die down.
