It's true that scent is about half of a dog's life. I have taken in cats and they will reject any new cat that enters the home until it has totally taken on the scent that they are used to. Since you cannot bath a cat that is not used to being bathed we wipe them down with vinegar and water and then wrap them in a blanket that has the scent of the house in it. That speeds up the process. Since dogs are more social than cats it might be good to introduce your dog to the new one in a place outside the home where your baby is not the boss. If your little one usually accepts other dogs pretty well you should have no problem with them meeting on neutral territory. |
