Mojo wasn’t feeling well this morning.

The day before yesterday, he had a little loose stool, so I gave him a bit of plain yogurt. Yesterday he had normal stools, so I thought the yogurt did the trick. Well, the dogs started barking at about 6 this morning. Normally, they’ll sleep as long as it’s dark out, but very occasionally they do bark at the cats running amuck early in the morning. I got up to check on them and the puppy pad in their ex-pen was full of diarrhea and it looked liked Mojo may have vomited up a bunch of diarrhea, as well. He’s actually never been a poop eater, so I was really surprised. Well, he was acting very tired & was refusing food & water, so that just increased my worry. I called my vet’s office (thank God they have an answering service) and their service paged the vet on call. Thankfully, the vet called me maybe two minutes after I got off the phone with the answering service. Our vet’s office is a partnership, but we’ve only seen the woman vet. The vet that called me back was the man. Thankfully, he was super nice and very helpful. He told me to give Mojo one quarter of a 10mg Pepcid AC, wait an hour, and then try a couple tablespoons of boiled chicken and rice. If he tolerates that well, he said to give him more in a couple hours and I can begin mixing it in with his regular food after 24 hours.
Seriously, I was so scared when Mojo was acting all listless this morning! I was terrified he would dehydrate. The closest emergency vet is nearly an hour away from me, so it is reassuring to know that we have access to our vet whether the office is open or not. The answering service said they only refer patients to the emergency vet between 11pm and 5 am.
Anyway, when I got home from the grocery store with Mojo’s supplies, Mr. Mojo was back to his normal self. Apparently, once you vomit everything up, your tummy feels much better and you perk up.

Thankfully, he seems to be tolerating the chicken and rice, so hopefully he is on the mend and we won’t have any more problems.
On a side note, Maci was actually barking at me when I was shredding the boiled chicken and mixing it into the rice! She was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor, staring at me and barking, she wanted it so bad! I swear, you’d think we starve the poor baby! She’s like a little land shark and wants to eat EVERYTHING, especially people food. I had to take Mojo into a separate room so he could eat in peace.
Mojo is happy as a clam right now, watching out the living room window so he can bark at passersby and the occasional squirrel. I'm sorry this is so long, but it was so scary when Mojo was sick this morning and I am so incredibly relieved he is feeling so much better. I really can't imagine life without him.
