Wow, I just went through this... Brutus is kept in my 4 season room while we are at work as I don't want to confine him to a crate all day either. However my pup is 4 months old and chews on everything. I have removed furniture and plants from "his room" until he is done with his chewing phase. In the Big House I have removed all rugs for now. We are able to confine him to the kitchen, family room and a hallway very easily. I had just purchased some pretty spendy rugs (for me) and he would start his "digging" on them. I have purchased a spray called Keep Off and it really works, I have sprayed it on my wood table legs and anything and everything he had started nipping at.
